The Carl Angus DeSantis Foundation is proud to share that we’ve funded Sweet Dream Makers in Boca Raton with a $25,000 grant to support their “A Bed of My Own” program — an initiative that delivers new beds and bedding to children and families in urgent need.

For too many kids in our community, a good night’s sleep is a luxury they simply can’t afford. Whether due to economic hardship, housing instability, or family crisis, thousands of children are sleeping on floors, couches, or makeshift surfaces that offer little comfort or rest. Nationally, an estimated 2–3% of children do not have a bed of their own, highlighting a quiet but significant issue often referred to as “bedlessness.”

Sweet Dream Makers steps into this gap with compassion and dignity. In 2024 alone, the organization delivered 7,026 beds to children across Palm Beach County. Since its founding in 2017, it has provided more than 21,000 beds to local families — each one including a mattress, frame, and fresh bedding at no cost.

Research shows that when children receive a bed of their own, nearly 80% experience improved sleep, better behavior, and stronger school performance, and 85% overcome significant sleep challenges. A bed isn’t just furniture — it’s a foundation for rest, growth, and opportunity.

We’re honored to support their mission. With this funding, Sweet Dream Makers can reach more families and help ensure that every child in our community has a place to sleep that feels safe, warm, and truly their own.

Together, we’re not just giving beds — we’re helping to build stronger, healthier futures.

When a child sleeps well, everything improves — confidence, focus, health, and hope.

Sometimes impact begins with something beautifully simple.

A bed.

A pillow.

A place to dream.
